Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 26, 2026

Pribble is built by Oversight Division Engineering LLC (“we,” “us,” “our”). This policy explains what data the Pribble desktop app and the pribble.ai website collect, how that data is used, and what choices you have. Our guiding principle is simple: your data stays on your machine unless you explicitly choose otherwise.

For a plain-language overview of our privacy architecture, see our Privacy Commitment page.

1. The pribble.ai Website

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-MB4PRWHGE7) to understand aggregate traffic patterns such as page views, referral sources, and general device and browser categories. Google Analytics uses cookies and may collect your IP address, which Google may truncate or anonymize in accordance with its own policies. We do not combine this data with any other data source. You can opt out by using a browser extension such as the Google Analytics Opt-out Add-on or by blocking cookies for this site.

No forms, no accounts

The website does not include signup forms, login pages, contact forms, newsletter signups, or any mechanism that collects personal information directly from you. We do not require or create user accounts.

Downloads

The download page links to a .dmg file hosted on Vercel Blob Storage. Downloading the file does not require providing any personal information. Standard server logs (IP address, timestamp, user-agent) may be recorded by our hosting provider, Vercel, in accordance with their privacy policy.

2. The Pribble Desktop App

Local-first architecture

Pribble is designed to operate entirely on your Mac. Audio recording, transcription (via WhisperKit on Apple’s Neural Engine), speaker identification, and AI-generated notes all run locally by default. No Pribble server is involved in processing your data.

What the app accesses

  • Microphone audio — captured via your Mac’s built-in or connected microphone, with your explicit permission. Used for transcription. Audio files are stored locally.
  • System audio — captured via macOS Screen Recording permission to record audio from video calls (Zoom, Meet, Teams). Despite the macOS label, Pribble never records video — the video capture is configured at 2×2 pixels to minimize resource use.
  • Calendar events — read-only access to your calendar via EventKit. Used to detect upcoming meetings, suggest recording titles, and display attendee names. Pribble never creates, modifies, or deletes events.

Where your data is stored

  • Recordings, transcripts, and notes — stored at ~/Documents/Pribble/Recordings/ by default (user-configurable). All data is in standard formats you can browse in Finder.
  • AI model files — stored at ~/Library/Application Support/Pribble/Models/.
  • API keys — stored in your macOS Keychain, protected by your system credentials.
  • Preferences — stored in macOS UserDefaults (theme, language, privacy level, etc.).
  • Network audit log — a local-only database of every outbound request the app makes, viewable in the Network Activity panel. This log is never synced to the cloud.

Optional cloud features

These features send data over the network only when you explicitly enable them:

  • Cloud AI summaries (BYOK) — if you provide your own API key for Anthropic (Claude) or OpenAI, Pribble sends transcript text to that provider for summarization. Only text is sent — never raw audio. The Anthropic API requests include the anthropic-no-training: true header, instructing Anthropic not to use your data for model training. Your use of third-party AI providers is governed by their respective privacy policies.
  • iCloud Drive sync — optionally backs up recording metadata to your iCloud Drive account. This uses Apple’s end-to-end encryption. Pribble never operates a server that sees this data.
  • Model downloads — the app may download transcription model weights from WhisperKit’s CDN and local LLM weights from HuggingFace. Only model identifiers are sent in these requests — no user content.

Privacy modes

The app provides three enforceable privacy levels:

  • Standard — cloud AI is available if you’ve configured an API key. All requests are logged in the network audit.
  • Lockdown — blocks all conversation content (transcripts, summaries, notes) from being sent to any cloud AI provider. Update checks and model downloads still work.
  • Airgap — blocks all outbound network connections from Pribble, except localhost. The app operates fully offline.

Individual recordings can also be marked “Sensitive,” which forces on-device-only processing regardless of the global privacy level.

App telemetry

Pribble does not include any analytics SDKs, crash reporting services, or telemetry code. The app does not track your usage, collect device identifiers, or phone home. The only monitoring is the local network audit log, which exists for your benefit and is never transmitted.

Software updates

Pribble uses Sparkle, an open-source macOS update framework, to check for new versions. Update checks contact pribble.ai/updates/appcast.xml and may include your app version, macOS version, and device architecture in the request headers. Update binaries are verified via EdDSA cryptographic signatures before installation. Under Airgap mode, update checks are blocked.

3. Data We Do Not Collect

To be explicit: we do not collect, store, or have access to your audio recordings, transcripts, meeting notes, calendar data, speaker names, or any content processed by the Pribble app. We do not operate servers that receive or process user content. We do not sell, share, or monetize any user data.

4. Third-Party Services

The following third-party services may receive data when you use Pribble:

5. Children’s Privacy

Pribble is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. Our pledge remains: if Pribble ever changes how it handles your data, your existing version keeps working the way it always has.

7. Contact

If you have questions about this policy or our data practices, contact us at privacy@pribble.ai.
